GEO

Search has outgrown the results page

Your customers search Google, compare on marketplaces and ask AI. Where does your brand appear along that journey?

One need, different interfaces

Search results, AI answers and marketplaces present information in different ways. Start by understanding the customer’s question before choosing the channel.

SEO and GEO work together

SEO helps your website get found in search results. GEO focuses on accurate brand representation and source citations in AI answers. Accessible, clear and credible content supports both.

Establish a baseline first

Build a set of questions your customers actually ask. Record when and how your brand and competitors appear. Repeat the same questions over time to observe change.

Turn the finding into work

A missing explanation, inconsistent brand information and an inaccessible page require different fixes. Connect each finding to a content, technical or brand-information owner.

Separate search visibility from model training

A crawler used for search may serve a different purpose from a training crawler. For example, OAI-SearchBot supports ChatGPT search, while GPTBot is used for model development. Review access choices with that distinction in mind. Allowing a crawler does not guarantee a citation.

Google’s AI search features do not require a special AI file or a separate structured data type. Start by checking that the page can be crawled, important content is readable and it answers the user’s question.
